The studio

We are a design and build studio of twelve. We take a small number of startups at a time and stay with them from the first idea to the launch, and usually well past it.

01How we started

Two designers, one client, and a brief that would not fit a template.

stuudio started in 2019 as two people who kept being asked to do the brand, the site and the product for the same founders, and kept handing the build to someone else. The work was better when it stayed in one room, so we brought it into one.

Seven years on we are twelve, spread across five time zones, and the model is the one we started with: one senior team that designs it and builds it, working directly with the people who founded the company.

What we hold to

  1. Few at a timeFour or five clients at once, never more. A studio that is always open is a studio that is not busy.Since day one
  2. Seniors onlyThe people on the call are the people doing the work. Nothing is handed down.Since day one
  3. Design and codeThe designer and the engineer sit on one project, so what ships is what was drawn.Since 2021
  4. Stay after launchMost of our work is second projects and retainers. We would rather keep a client than win a new one.Since 2022

FAQs

Questions about the studio

Book a call
How long have you been around?

Since 2019. Seven years, independent the whole time, and the same two founders still run the studio.

Where are you based?

London and Lahore, with people in Lisbon, Berlin and Stockholm. Every project has at least four hours of overlap with the client's day.

How big is the team?

Twelve people: designers, engineers, a motion team and a producer. We have stayed small on purpose.

Are you a network of freelancers?

No. Everyone who works on your project is on the team, and has been for years in most cases.

How many clients do you take at once?

Four or five. It is why our availability line says what it says, and why we sometimes ask a team to wait a month.

Are you hiring?

Rarely, and only senior people. If that is you, write to us with the work you are proudest of.
